The Sewing Workshops in Alleys

Through a series of ground visits and interviews during the study, we realized the gradual decline of sewing workshops. They were not as few as we had imagined. They were just hidden in the alleys; very few people would pay attention to them. When we asked the students and teachers on campus, we found many of them did not know what sewing shops were. Surprisingly, many teachers thought that there were few sewing workshops in Luzhou. Therefore, in order to let the teachers and students understand what sewing workshops as well as their status quo, we discussed with teacher for a long time when we gathered. Finally, we decided to promote our ideology to individual, classes, and the whole school.

1. 1. Individuals:
2. 1) we went into the communities to find out sewing workshops. We interviewed current workers and retirees to collect more information.
3. 2) we made posters, television walls and web links to school website to promote our theme and the stories and histories behind sewing workshops.
9. 2. Classes:
10. 1) we took posters and other tools into the classroom promote to the students. We interacted with them by ways of worksheets. We invited them to participate in the activities and to discover the sewing workshops in the communities and to observe their working conditions.
11. 2) We learned to sew and went into the classrooms. Through patchwork practice, we guided the students to experience sewing and its hardship. In this way, they forged a sense of cherishing.
