As a local resident of Lujhou city I used to hear my mother and other elderly tell stories of this place and its famous temple culture. Lujhou has one of the highest densities of temples in the country, and its temple events are held none stop through the year. Since I was little I enjoyed going to the temples with my parents to burn incenses. However the most eye catching part about it is the vendors in front of the temple. It's as if you were at the night market. Once you got into the temple the first thing you see is the richly ornamented structure of the temple; majestic and solemn. As I looked at the expressions on the faces of the god statues, I noticed that none of the face expressions of the statues are identical. Not even statues of the same god. There were statues with solemn face expressions, statues with kind face expressions, and statues with loving face expressions. This is what the adults meant when they say that temples give people a feeling of peace and tranquility. I shared my findings in a local education class with everybody. Our teacher told us that it is really difficult to carve a god statue. In order to have good representation of the god's face expression, the carving master must have excellent skills. Master Wang is a famous master of carving who lives near our school He is also a collector of ancient artifacts. In fact, Master Wang established a private museum so others who like ancient artifacts may come and see the artifacts there. With the sharing of this experience and knowledge of the upcoming 2012 Cyberfair project, I proposed to the teacher on using the Museum as our project topic. Not only can we learn about the local culture of Lujhou city, we can also research on various valuable artifacts. With this in mind our teacher took us to research on documentations of Lujhou City. This raised my interest of this topic. The topic had formerly become the research topic of our Cyberfair project. I hope along with the guidance of our teacher we will discover more valuable characteristics of Lujhou. | ||||
