Our first meeting---
|
 Teacher
Shu-ying Tsai is accepting our interview
|
A-fu
mentioned Teacher Shu-ying Tsai, the leading person in training story-tellers,
when we visited A-fu’s bookstore.
At 1:30, December 2, we invited Teacher
Shu-ying Tsai to our school and interviewed her. She was a charming and
beautiful lady. When she told us she was already 44 years old and her child is
the junior student in a university, we were greatly surprised. She said she
worked as the story-teller for 11 years and was enjoying being with the
children. |
Unforgettable experience--
|
|
She
told us about her unforgettable experience. Once she played musical instruments
with the local children. Another time, a child even wants to give up being a
baseball player to attend her story-telling activity. In a winter, she attended
a book club, expecting there would be few children because it was very cold.
But to her surprise, eight children came to enjoy her story.

Sharing experience--

Teacher Tsai also shared her experience of
establishing a story-teller organization. She told us the establishment of such
organization required determination and persistence, and made full of the local
resources and support. Finally, she pointed out a few issues we should be
attentive: 1. free participation of the parents and the local people, 2. open
the school library to the story-tellers and the local people, 3. win over the
support from the school and the local people and encourage them to participate
in the activities.
